Designing and ordering your build
How do I get a price for my steel building?
Request a free, no-obligation quote. Tell us your ZIP code and what you're building — the size, how you'll use it, and any doors, windows, or color preferences. We'll send back a custom quote, usually the same business day. Pricing depends on your dimensions, options, steel gauge, and your local wind and snow requirements, so a real quote is always more accurate than an online guess.
Are your buildings fully customizable?
Yes. Every building is built to order. You choose the width, length, and height, the roof style, the number and placement of garage doors, walk-in doors, and windows, and your roof, wall, and trim colors. If you can sketch it, we can usually build it — from an open carport to a fully enclosed workshop, barn, or commercial building.
How do building dimensions work — what does 30x40x12 mean?
Steel buildings are listed as width × length × height. So 30x40x12 means 30 feet wide, 40 feet long, and 12 feet tall at the legs. Width is the most important number for how you'll use the space, and height is measured at the eave (the side wall), not the peak of the roof.
Can I change my order after I place it?
Usually yes, as long as your building hasn't gone into fabrication yet. Contact us as soon as possible with your changes and we'll update your order and quote. Once materials are cut and scheduled, changes may be limited, so it's best to finalize details early.
How long does it take to get my building installed?
Lead times vary by building size, customization, your location, and the season, but many standard buildings are delivered and installed within a few weeks of a finalized order. Larger or fully engineered commercial buildings take longer. We'll give you an estimated timeline with your quote and keep you updated through our process.
Do you offer discounts on large or commercial orders?
For large, multi-unit, or commercial projects, reach out and we'll put together custom pricing for the scope. The best way to get an accurate number is to send us the details and let us quote the full project.
Getting your building on the ground
Are delivery and installation included?
In most of our service area, delivery and professional installation on your prepared, level site are included in the price we quote. We'll confirm what's included for your specific location and building when we send your quote.
How do I prepare my site before installation?
Your install area should be reasonably level and clear, with room for our crew and truck to access it. A level pad — concrete, asphalt, gravel, or compacted dirt — gives the best result. If the ground slopes, it may need leveling first, since installing on uneven ground can affect fit and appearance. We'll walk you through the requirements before your install date.
What surfaces can you install on?
We install on concrete, asphalt, gravel, and dirt. The surface determines the anchor type we use — concrete uses concrete anchors, while dirt and gravel use rebar or mobile-home style ground anchors. Concrete is required for some fully enclosed and commercial buildings; we'll tell you what your building needs.
How the buildings are made
What is the difference between 12-gauge and 14-gauge steel?
The gauge number refers to the thickness of the steel tubing framing — and a lower number means thicker, heavier steel. So 12-gauge is thicker and stronger than 14-gauge. Many buildings use 14-gauge as standard, with 12-gauge available as a heavier-duty upgrade that's often recommended for larger buildings or areas with high wind and snow loads.
Are your buildings certified and engineered to code?
Yes — certified buildings are engineered to meet your local snow, wind, and seismic load requirements, and come with engineered drawings that most permit offices require. Certification requirements and available load ratings vary by area, so we confirm what's needed for your address as part of your quote.
What is the largest building you can build?
Standard tubular-steel buildings go up to about 30 feet wide, up to roughly 20 feet tall, and virtually any length. For wider, taller, or clear-span spaces, our commercial and industrial buildings scale well beyond that. Tell us the dimensions you need and we'll engineer to them.
What warranty do you offer?
Our buildings carry a warranty of up to 20 years on the frame and sheet metal, depending on the building and options. We're also licensed and insured, with a combined 20 years of experience. We'll go over the exact warranty terms for your building before you buy.
Can I add windows, doors, or insulation later?
Many additions are easier and cheaper to include up front, so it's best to plan doors, windows, and insulation into your original design. That said, some upgrades can be added after installation. If you think you'll expand or enclose later, tell us during design so we can build it to accommodate that.
What roof styles are available?
There are three common roof styles: regular (rounded corners, the most economical), A-frame horizontal (boxed-eave, with horizontal panels), and vertical (an A-frame roof with vertical panels that shed rain, snow, and debris best). Vertical roofs are recommended for larger buildings and heavy-weather areas.
Rules for your property
Do I need a building permit?
It depends entirely on your city or county. Some areas require a permit for any permanent structure; others don't for smaller buildings. Permits are the property owner's responsibility, but we make it easier by providing engineered drawings when your building is certified. We recommend checking with your local permit office before you order.
Ways to pay
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer financing through third-party lending partners with a range of terms. Approval, rate, and terms are set by the lender and vary by applicant. You can estimate a monthly payment on our financing page and apply in minutes.
Do you have a rent-to-own or no-credit-check option?
Yes. Our rent-to-own program requires no credit check, has a low initial payment, and gives you a clear path to owning your building outright, with early-purchase options available.
Where do you deliver and install?
We're based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and we sell, deliver, and install custom steel buildings across all 50 states. Availability of certain options and certifications can vary by state, which we confirm with your quote. See our service areas.
